Portfolio > Suburban Chaos

The Suburban Chaos series began not with a collage, but with a photograph taken in my own backyard. Simple compositions, usually involving luxurious living rooms with contrasting elements seen through windows and doors, allow me a platform to explore and question my own relationship to the suburbs. Living in northern New Jersey my entire life, in the shadow of the greatest city in the world, has made me question much about societal norms and expectations concerning community, ambition, gentrification and the concept of home. Perfect green lawns and immaculate living rooms can be holding dark secrets, or cocoon residents from dangers lurking outside the door. One’s perception can become their reality, and there’s much to question and explore here.
