In 2011, a 15 year-old Syrian boy scrawled something similar on his school wall, criticizing Assad. He was jailed and tortured, and thus began the Syrian civil war. These are the colors of the opposition flag, using a traditional tile pattern, echoing infinity. Layers interplay, much like the many sides to the conflict.
